Manu smriti has nothing objectionable in it .. infact it is far more far sighted then any constitution of present day. Reading that book will dispel many doubts. The point that it will not be true of this age is not actually a valid way of arguing , instead arguing on the contents and the specific verses which are termed objectionable(9:3,17) is the right approach. There are many good things in the book (10:65  3:55-60)authored by this great sage and to say it is not applicable to this time ,is as good as saying aristotle or plato are irrelevant in today's ideas.

[ BDB  sez- Cool! I can play at being "Malhotraji". Karigar says, Shut-Up BDB, don't make me laugh  ]

Haven't seen anything from RM in Sulekha for a while now...[wonder how many miss his writings in the "new sulekha" ??]

I know I have refs for Maddy Desh Doods [See my blog Macaca’s fate in California hangs in balanceand scroll down to Refs # 4 & 5 "Gunga Din comes to Mich"  etc..] He's (still??) Sanskrit Prof at U Mich Ann Arbor, & "shishya of some quite famous desi "Indologists" from Pune (Bhandarkar Oriental Instt..??) Apart from b**t-li**ing the good ol' Aryan himself, Herr Mike Witzel....

Also Vijay is some hotshot prof in UK (Oxford??) / US (Ivy league...Dartmouth??)...creme-de-la-creme...if u know what I mean.

I have more refs if u need...haven't thought of these "luminaries" in a while...

I agree, the "new Sulekha" has messed up fonts & tables royally, & basically demands that one re-edits each blog one by one, painfully....

I copied the table from blog (select table+few lines above & below, & paste into word/excel...) & pasted it back here. Hope that works...!!??

The font of main table in blog is too big, I con't read contents of last column in sulekha template.

I think it is better to reduce font size of all text also (may one size less.)

jspande ji,

This link has the article-
Excerpt-

COUNTERPOINT

Academic
Hinduphobia

The sixth-grade classroom in America has become the battle ground for
geo-politically charged fights where the anti-Hindu biases of the academicians
are ruling the roost. Is the sixth-grade classroom the right place to prosecute
an American minority culture or a foreign nation?

RAJIV MALHOTRA AND VIDHI JHUNJHUNWALA

T he recent
California Department of Education’s hearings on sixth-grade textbook
portrayals of religions and cultures have triggered conflicts between the Hindu
Diaspora and a group of academicians claiming to be “the experts” on
Hinduism. Every religion has good sides and bad sides, its “enemies” and its
“victims.” However, eleven-year olds are too young and naïve, and most of
their teachers are too ignorant, to be subject to incoherent scholarly
controversies on foreign politics. Most sixth graders are unlikely to study
these religions ever again in their lives. Hence, the impressions created by
these textbooks will have a lasting effect in shaping the future of American
society.

Everything is OK with your writings and sentiments Mr. Malhotra. I am trekking your writings for last 5 years now. I also debate on the Socio-political aspects of Hinduism & Hindu Society in the name of Viduur.

Just I may like to caustion you about the Designs of Shakuni Parivar ( Sangh Parivar) which are ultimately aimed at the subversion of Hinduism to Brahminism. Manu Smiriti was also such a software only which was followed but not approved whole heartedly by the Ancient Hindu Society.

All i can say that never relish the company & appreciation of the Extremely Anti-Hindu Cults fathered by RSS at any moment of crisis even. You have the caliber to reach to your goal without them also. They will most often support you but with very ulterior motives only.

I agree that Communists, Islamists & Evangelists are no less enemy og Hinduism than the RSS led Shakuni Clan. One has to challenge them also, and I do challenge them more than any Slave or Master of RSS.
